What great weather and a big turnout for our first Wednesday back at church for education classes and supper. We had just over 500 who came out for a cookout meal of hamburgers and hotdogs, watermelon, salads, and lots of homemade cookies. The worship service at 6:30 was lively with music, puppets and especially with a huge group of Kindergartners and their families who celebrated a Milestone Blessing of the Backpacks. Many people were overheard exclaiming how happy they are to have Wednesday nights at church again! It’s great to be back!

This is an exciting new venture in my life. Food, family & friends have always been important to me. My dream has been to own my own restaurant, so I’m thinking this is a far better choice!!

We’ll see you back in the dining room on September 16th, 4:45-6:15 pm, and in worship from 6:30-7:00 pm. (The menu will be coming soon on a separate post.) All Calvary members are encouraged to come and enjoy the fellowship time, and please bring friends along. All are welcome here.

It’s fitting to end this blog post with Aloha, because it’s an ending for me as the volunteer coordinator of the Wednesday meal program, and a new beginning for Karla Mitzel as Hospitality Coordinator, recently hired to join the staff of Calvary Lutheran Church. More info about Karla coming here soon. The staff and volunteers at Calvary look forward to her leadership and skills in the kitchen as we move forward into the new year. I will continue as a volunteer in the kitchen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays whenever I’m in town, and I’ll keep the blog updated with menus, recipes and photos. Aloha!

Calvary’s High School Youth will be hosting breakfast on Easter Sunday morning between the early and late services. They’ll be accepting donations for their trip to the ELCA Youth Gathering in Detroit this summer. Come and enjoy some delicious egg bakes, cinnamon rolls, fruit, biscuits and gravy and a cup of coffee and support our wonderful kids.
Only 2 more Wednesday meals until September. Plan ahead for the last meal on April 15th…we’ll be bringing out the grill, the blenders and the Luau music. Get your best Hawaiian shirts out of winter storage and get ready to hula, or not.
